Domestic Fire Regulations

Domestic Fire RegulationsPositioning the oil tank storage system? Rules? Help!?

We had the oil boiler serviced today and OFTEC registered technician told us that our oil tank was too close to a fence, a shed and trees.
Nobody had ever mentioned this before!

Is it his current position in fact illegal - or was it simply advise us as protection against fire? Someone knows?
I did not find any info on the OFTEC website.

We want to sell the property next year and do not want the hassle and expense of moving the tank. But its showing the current position on the HIPS miserable and cause us problems?
Thank you very much for any help and advice you can offer.

fear of meaning illegal if you do not sort you will not be able to sell and SEPA next year do you make the rules or you get fined. Your best solution of what you said is to build a firewall between the tank and fuel limit. It should be blocks or the like and extend beyond 300 mm from each end tank and 300 mm above. the tank must be 760 mm below the limits combustable and 1.8 m from walls of buildings combustable. There are other regulations that may require a tank holding tank to be mounted (the distance of drains, etc., but I think your service is an engineer by emphasizing the risk of fire should be put right regs underway since 10 years or so maybe your tank is over.
