Health And Safety Report

Health And Safety ReportHealth & Safety E Learning

In this day and age claims, even for strains smaller accidents and to pay all employers to comply with health and safety to cover themselves and their employees. The Health and Safety Executive Regulations, for a number of years now, made a legal requirement for all employers to assess and reduce the risk to staff in the workplace.

Some employers, pressed for time and money, find it a problem. The total work days are sometimes lost, places must be booked and paid for and transport provided. All this comes at the expense of the employer, but certainly can not be as costly as the number of sick days taken in the name of work related health problems.

Figures from the Health and Safety Executive for 2003/04 show that 448,000 UK workers have suffered work-related musculoskeletal disorders (the generic term for RSI). It was a staggering increase from 52,000 the previous year.

The direct and indirect costs to society amounted to 5.7 billion pounds phenomenal year 2004 / 5. The Health and Safety Executive attributes this to the 450,000 cases of workers absent for Backache and 375,000 in back and limb disorders higher. Surprisingly, they even report seven years children suffering RSI complaints if schools must also apply the regulations.

Repetitive strain injury is common in offices where employees spend most of their day sitting in front of a display screen, or EHR. Screen equipment is a generic term for video display and includes all equipment in an office keyboard and mouse, which were the cause of carpal tunnel syndrome when used incorrectly.

DSE risk assessment and training requirements of health and safety and are very easy to practice. It is recommended guidelines for the angle of a display screen, the positioning of a keyboard, mouse, desk and chair. Everything should be established for each employee to ensure comfortable working positions.

Employers are liable for the cost of sight tests for operators to monitor the request but there is no evidence that, when used correctly, a display screen can cause health problems. Only when there is unnecessary glare, poor posture or a misplaced unit before a problem occurs. There is certainly no evidence to suggest there is a worsening for the use of a display screen.

Thus, employees do not want to get hurt at work and employers do not want to spend hours in hard-earned rights and benefits on health and safety training. However, there is a solution. It is now possible to educate all employers and their staff in all aspects of health and safety without ever having to leave their badly positioned, too bright display screen or the chairmen wonky.

It is now possible to meet all legal requirements of the Health and Safety training online. This is called Health and Safety e-learning. Risk assessments are set for employers and employees can establish their own training program for EHRs reducing the impact on working hours. The training can be completed over time at a pace that suits the individual and training certificates can be printed at the end.

This solution is cost effective, requiring minimal resources and learning development advisor is assigned to the undertaking concerned to take the training. It is also recommended that the results are stored in a database to establish an audit trail to prove compliance with your company's health and safety.
