Hill Walking Safety City of London to the safety and accessibility? I'll be in London for 5-6 mos, working near Liverpool St. Please indicate if I had to live within walking distance of work. My favorites are the Blackfriars / St Paul area and Fenchurch / Tower Hill area. The financial district empty for the night that makes it dangerous? Are there restaurants and supermarkets in the region that remain open after the workday? Is this area ideal for visiting attractions in London? Living near your workplace would be a good idea because it means you do not have to negotiate the system of public transport in London during peak hours. However, be warned that the property located near the city is very expensive. You'll probably have to pay more than £ 900 per month for a studio to live in that kind of place (Earls Court is a 45 minutes drive outside the city, why it's cheaper). I lived in London during the 1980s/90s. It was blissfully quiet at night and on weekends and extremely secure. There is a large police presence in this area because of fears of terrorism. Some restaurants are open nights, but in any case, you can access to tourist areas like Soho and Covent Garden in a few minutes, most supermarkets are open until 20 hours. London has changed greatly over the years. I want to live as close as you can work as the tube can be unreliable and very busy. Be prepared to pay much rent. My friend pays £ 600 per month for a room in a house in the area of Earls Court. Posted on August 17, 2010.
