Ford Fiesta, 97 I just paid 630Euro for a service I've been ripped off?? (There was a lot?)? Hi all,
I'm pretty new to this site, but I find it very useful to cut a long story short, I had a 1997 Ford Fiesta, 67,000 miles 1.3 Endura 900Euro for a few weeks ago (three weeks to be exact) Now the owner's manual had no prior service (wha you want for the money I hear you ask), but the market is flooded with cheap cars per minute, anyway, the car was fairly well, but I just new it needs a service, the oil looked pretty manky and into winter (I take my kids in it so as to have peace of mind ) and the brakes were a bit too poor.
anyway, I went to a place known for service, a place *** if I know not intended to name him, but I do not complain about them, just questioning, discount tires street in Dublin.
anyway, the srevice was sent to 170, he took there and then I went to the corner to work with one of their people on board and gave him the keys and pushed (legal? who knows, nothing has happened so who care) if I get a call phon about an hour and a half later saying that I needed new CV joint (never heard of one) and pads and newbake DISCA, and another number of bits and bobs it came to 630 after some haggling and a?? discount??
the paper he gave me at the end was as follows on this subject
Castrol Oil 24.50 (incl. disposal)
Oil Filter, Ford 14.00
12.00 Air Filter
Bosch spark 20.00
buffers, Ford 80.00
Ford discs 180.00
Fiesta CV Joint fl 160.00
Fiesta fan belt 60.00
Fiesta Rear Wheel Bearing 90.00
E-fiesta BOTP 85.00
there was a reduction assumed removed than to get to Majik 630 (:
Now the guy said that the full srvice was also performed on Ti, with some replacement bulbs), although the courtesy light bulb when I opened the car door or trunk is still not working, I'm going back to subject
Sorry for the long messagee, but I do not know what the stuff I Hafler is paid? Now, I must say the car drives like a gem, but it was pretty well before (I think) the guy said that I have saved significant expense to catch these things time.of sure he would. I would be very grateful f someone can give me details on what has been done to my car, is it worth, i was torn
a way of seeing the car is nw a total cost of a‚¬ 1500 and has less that 70,000 MLS on this, it is NCT'd for two years and the guy said, I have about a "new car "Now after getting that job done.
Look usual I am walking on most,
would simply apprecite advice, comments??
Thank you guys and ladies
John
yes I would say that you brake pads are 30 to 50 euros a game, if you go to a driving factor and request a price for everything on the list, you know .....
If these prices include the work you do ok .. the oil filter is a little high, but compared to U.S. prices your ok ..
You do not know about the exchange rate yet. But if these prices were denominated in U.S. dollars, it would be about right. But the last time I checked the euro was about 1.7 million if prices seem a bit inflated. The CV joint is actually a part of the CV axle on a front wheel drive vehicle, it is synonymous with constant speed, they rebuild kits for all the trunk, but the stores always just replace the whole axle, it is much easier. Replacing the axle is actually a bit of work, even with the wheel bearing. So overall the price seems a bit high, but it could be because I'm from the States. This is all the info I can give ...
The work that you name appears on a car in New Jersey you back more than a thousand dollars. It appears that the person who sold it never had maintenance work carried out in 70,000 miles. Your prices are including work, it seems reasonable, but there are many other things that can go wrong on a car. Concerned by the engine and transmission. A few dollars on each oil.
