Think you that the motion detectors which used visible light instead of infra-red which work very well? How do you explain this in tems of passive sensors and active?

A motion sensor in the visible light does not work well because there are many sources of background visible light. The sensor would be triggered by changes in visible light, light as ambient light, opening the curtains, a cloud covering the sun, etc.
