Red Comet Fire Extinguisher

Red Comet Fire ExtinguisherWhat chemical is used in Red Comet extinguishers which removes all the oxygen in the room?

Red Comet Fire Extinguishers now use carbon dioxide (CO2) gas or dry powder, they used to use glass grenades were thrown into a room or at the base of the fire, these materials tetrachloride Carbon (CLC), which forms a highly toxic gas in case of contact with fire, and it is very dangerous in confined areas.

I remember when I learned about fire extinguishers in the RAF in the late 60s they were always used then they were also very popular in vehicles because they could be used on electrical installations and the liquid fires.

Thank kae * i, chemistry was my favorite subject at school and fire training is a very important topic in the RAF. Report Abuse
