Safe Touch Security

Husband wants to iPod touch on the plane with him in Las Vegas. Should he give it to the safety officer for inspection by hand or it is for her to go in the machine thingy? I was told that the machine can potentially damage these devices.

The scanner does not hurt it or any other device. I travel a lot and I've never had a problem.

You may need x-ray it. I was told by a Secret Service agent (who was to protect President Bush during a NASCAR race) that they took someone with a weapon that looked like a plastic credit card. He has shot, but that was all anyone could need to kill the president. If you're worried about electromagnetism screwing your digital music, do not bring on the plane unless you have a backup of files.
