Safety Flares Can you go to jail for lighting a push of security on your property? I lit a torch of security in my wood a few days ago and my parents had to speak "on fire" with me. Of course, you can get in trouble for lighting a push indiscriminately is not a toy. You may be subject to a number of charges based on the results and your parents would be the least of your worries. Lighting it in a wooded area is particularly dangerous, I'm actually surprised that you had to say such a thing. Your spelling and grammar are excellent, so I'm assuming your old enough to know the proper use of flares. It depends on the law where you live. So yes, in some places, you can be charged with a crime. In other places you might have trouble with the fire department, and yet in others, the only problem is that you would with your parents. In my opinion, the latter is your biggest concern. Listen to your parents. If, by chance, it causes a fire, it is negligent arson. There is a kind of laws that cover, but I do not know the proper name. You must, at all times, consider your environment. You'd be surprised at the speed of a spark can start a fire. You have been negligent and irresponsible. You can, if not contained and is a threat to others or yourself. And light a torch in the woods is pretty stupid mate. don'tb stupid (and I suppose if you started a fire, perhaps you could go to jail for starting the fire) Posted on June 8, 2010.
