My friend bought a Ford Ranger 1973 and he would get it legalized but Im wondering if its going to need a lot more work then he thinks. I want to know about the catalytic converter, he absolutely have to be from 1973?

20. 1988 and newer - inspect for window tinting or coating
21. caps on vehicles to 24.2 years old models ..........

no catalytic converter on the truck at the time. It is very basic and should be easy to legal road.

In vehicles in North Carolina over 20 years do not need cats to pass, I suggest you local machine shop and watching the inspection standards, and you can go to community college to train for inspector.
