In the early days, the video of several security cameras were recorded with time-lapse video recorders and multiplexers. Because of recent advances in recording technology, digital video recorders (DVRs) have begun to replace many VCRs and multiplexers. DVR security camera systems record video on a hard drive support, eliminating the need for videotape. These sophisticated systems have the ability to handle multiple cameras and video recording and playback locally or via the Internet.

Before choosing a DVR, decide how many cameras you want to connect. The rate of video recording, which is calculated in frames per second (fps), should also play an important role in your purchasing decision. For systems of high-end security, opt for a DVR that has a high registration rate, but a camera with a low rate of registration would be sufficient to meet the extra security.

There are two types of digital recorders, models based on PCs and autonomous units. ApexCCTV offers both. DVR PC comes with 4, 8, 12, 16 or 32 camera inputs. The DVR security systems convert analog signals into digital signals and compress them. The compressed data is then stored on a hard drive for archiving and playback. By entering the date and time using their on-screen menu, the PC DVR systems allows you to easily search and retrieve images and videos from any point in time.

You can access a DVR surveillance camera system remotely using any TCP / IP or dial-up. The video security camera capture systems can even be seen with a client software. The DVR PC has the advantage of allowing you to connect multiple cameras when you install multiple cards in your DVR computer. These capture cards are available from stainless steel, AverMedia, and GeoVision.

You can also opt for standalone DVR systems. It can be activated by simply pressing a button and does not require the use of a PC. They come with 4, 8, 9 or 16 camera inputs. Because their video is compressed at least based on the PC units, autonomous systems security DVR offers better image quality. They have a single circuit card with software that is encoded on their chips. The software of the DVR surveillance systems is often more stable than PC-based digital recorders.

Standalone DVR units are very effective when used for internal security. They allow you to monitor your security cameras while you watch TV. They also include an IR remote control that lets you control the live video from your security camera. If you want to record and store the data, then get a standalone DVR model that includes a hard disk.

Security DVR systems provide detailed images and video crystal clear that does not deteriorate. They also let you record video for a longer period of time and you can pause the video without distortion of the image. To update your surveillance system, a DVR ApexCCTV is an excellent choice.
