Surveillance Equipment

I live in an apartment complex and have a strong suspicion that the maintenance workers are to come inside when I'm away.
I would put in place some form of monitoring may be wireless because I have no video recording devices, and I do not want to leave my laptop in the opening.
Where can I go and that the combination of equipment do I need?
