Underwater Video Cameras

Underwater Video CamerasDoes anyone know the underwater video cameras best?

We're going to dive the Great Barrier Reef in August and I want to take a good underwater photography reliable, but I do not know what to look for. I want to take pictures and video. Anyone has recommendations? I read the comments on the Panasonic Lumix camera but by most critics have complained that they are not waterproof .... lol ... not the best thing for underwater photography.

Most "waterproof" cameras are basically good for swimming, as long as you keep close to the surface.

they normally have a depth of 3 m to 10 feet

it is good for 10m

I know that for the United Kingdom, but you can get.

The other option is to get a camera (any) and to obtain housing for her, then you are sure your device is safe. With this option, the housig can be as expensive or more of the camera, you need to decide how deep you go, especially if you see that once in a lifetime fish, you want your camera to implode, or gaskets

a good reliable and robust all purpose camera is the Olympus Stylus 550WP. it is estimated at 3 meters I found enough for swimming snorkel. I got mine with a flotation belt, because the camera will sink if you let go. an upscale version that is good for more depth is the Olympus Stylus 8,000 'difficult'. these devices have a video mode for video and LCD integrated that you can aim the camera at arm's length, much easier than trying to swim and take a camera to the eye or face facial.

ohh, I've been wanting one of those.

check depth and megapixels, I'd say.

Good luck!
