Webcam Trigger

My webcam is suddenly very dark, and nothing seems to trigger this. It is on MSN Messenger in passing. I tried the brightness level on the highest possible and also on the car. Sometimes, if I disconnect and reconnect, the webcam is "light" again. Anything with my ideas (irritant) webcam?
