Types and Uses of Wireless Camera Wireless cameras have become increasingly prevalent in today's society, and are used for a variety of purposes. This article aims to give you a basic overview of different types of wireless camera available, and how they are used.
Wireless Security Camera
A security camera outdoor wireless can be used in a security system at home, inside and outside. Wireless cameras come in all shapes and sizes. Some types are waterproof and can be hidden in the outdoor plants or other nooks and crannies. There are also wireless video cameras with night vision.
An advantage of using a wireless camera for external security is that one does not need to do much preparation or configuration of wiring. If you decide you want to have your product in a different location, just hover over it.
A wireless security camera is also good for temporary use. For example, if you want to configure the device in a given location for a specific event or period, it is easy to do, and then move it later.
Spy Camera
A spy camera is exactly what its name says - a hidden wireless camera used to spy on people. Modern forms and uses of spy cams seem to become more creative. They can be integrated into pens, can be as small as a USB key, disguised in glasses, or simply so small that it is easy to hide them in clothing. Some spy cameras also come with tiny microphones and listening / recording devices. You can even find backpacks with hidden camera installed in them (this could be useful if you want to keep a close eye on whoever is hiking behind you.)
A Nanny Cam
Surveillance cameras can be used by parents to keep an eye on their children's babysitters (to make sure they do not abuse children, or raid the fridge too often), or they can be used by nannies to keep an eye on the children themselves. They can also be used to monitor pets or away in another room. The use of wireless cameras can be quite innovative too - one recent example I saw was a wireless camera disguised in a deodorant. In some cases, these wireless cameras come with portable monitors carried in the hand so you can always keep an eye on your child as you move into the house.
Some types of wireless nanny cameras (or cameras) display the image on a mobile phone (if compatible), PDA, web browser, or a standard video screen. Some units are even equipped with heat sensors which will alert you by e-mail each time someone enters a room.
These cameras also have remote control functions that allow you to change their position and pan to get a new view, wherever you are.
